Dear Readers,

We have some great stories for you this month.

The latest data about UTC students who left UTCs in July 2016 has now been published and the results are excellent. 97% of students leaving UTCs had a place at university, secured an apprenticeship or are starting a job.

The high profile programme BBC Radio 4 Any Questions? was broadcast live from
UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park on 25 November. The event was a huge success and there was standing room only.

UTC Warrington welcomed HRH The Duke of York, KG who officially opened the UTC on 7 November. Ron Dearing UTC received an overwhelming response to be part of its first intake in September 2017 and have now offered an extra 50 student places.

UTC Sheffield students displayed their engineering talents at the WorldSkills UK competition in Birmingham and took home medals in gold, silver and bronze. The UTC ranked joint fifth in the UK medal table.

The Leigh UTC celebrated the success of its students during their second annual awards evening on 17 November which was sponsored by local businesses. Redrow Homes invited Medway UTC students to their construction site to inspire the next generation of site managers.

Finally, we look at our work with gap-year students about to embark on university and how they engage with UTC students as part of the Yipiyap tutoring service.
